Default pioneer 6x9's?

Would anyone recommend pioneer? It seems to me that they can handle quite a
lot of power. any comments?

Not bad reliability wise I guess. Friend had a pair in boxes in his old
Corolla for a good 4 or 5 years off the headunit. Just go to any audio
store or wal-mart and listen to them.

They're ok I guess. They don't seem to handle any more or less power than
most other 6x9's.

Mark, I want to ask you something. Comparing the two 6x9's made by pioneer.
The 350W http://www.pioneer.com.sg/products/c.../ts_a6980s.asp

and the 400W

http://www.pioneer.com.sg/products/c.../ts_a6990s.asp

Both have a nominal input of 80W

Other than the one being 5way and the other 4way what would the major
difference be?

Oh yeah then theres also the 330W

http://www.pioneer.com.sg/products/c...s/ts_d690r.asp

also 80W

You've already seen the only difference, the number of tweeters. They use
the same voice coils on them so their power handling *should* be the same
but most consumers feel that higher power handling and more tweeters means
better quality so they slap a higher rating on their 6x9s with the most
speakers and you have their "high end" 6x9s. I wouldn't use anything over a
3-way if you're really stuck on getting a 6x9 since the extra tweeters will
block too much of the woofers output.

The difference is that one has 3 unnecessary drivers whereas the other only
has 2.

I like the pioneer 6x9s they always sound good and they last forever..

but I hate the way pioneer puts 400W and 350W and so on right
on the boxes... People use those numbers instead of the speakers
actual model numbers and folks think one is better than the other
or LOUDER than the other bassed on these numbers...

IMO its marketing bull****
but very common in this industry.

I mickey moused my Pioneer 300 6x9s under 6.5 holes. This causes them
to pick up noise. I will be replacing them probably with Infinity
Kappa 63.5i components.

The only reason I am replacing the speakers is to cut down on having
to nibble my speaker holes, and to eliminate the noise. As far as the
speakers themselves, I've blasted them at insane levels, and they
still hold up well (I power them with a used Jensen 400w 4ch amp).
They are nice and clear, not muddy, give good bass and mid, and the
highs aren't too bright. Well balanced. I got my pair for 75 bucks.
They've been through hell and back, and they sound awesome regardless.
I'll probably install them in my sister's car, or sell them off for
like 20 bucks... either way, I love these speakers, and I would
recommend them to anyone who wants good affordable 6x9s, especially
the 300's.
