DVDPs at silly prices! - Redux
Some time back I posted about cheap DVDPs from Sainsbury's and that my
brother managed to get one for £31.50 through his sister in law, who is a
member of staff and got staff discount.
Turns out there had been a delivery of 200 units to that store and virtually
none of them made it to the shelves - the staff bought them all up! (My
bro's sister in law bought 6 of them apparently!)
Anyhoo, I got a 'hands on with the said DVDP yesterday - an Akura 15DS (or
summat similar). I have to say it was very nice - better fascia than a lot
of them (much better looking than the Amazon 'Yamada' for instance) and a
good, firm 'click' to the fascia buttons, of which there were a good
sufficiency. The draw mechanism appeared perfectly normal (same as a Wadia
861 for example) and worked just fine - not to slow. The remote was a tad
Fisher Price - some different coloured rubber buttons (pastel shades) which
needed a double squeeze occasionally, but it is brand new and is well
featured and well up to the job IMO.
No reports of failure from any of the purchasers apparently and the picture
quality and sound appeared to be perfectly adequate (how can you tell on
someone else's rig with an overhead light on and sod-all room 'ambience'?).
How TF can you go wrong at that sort of money? - If it only lasted 6 months
it'd still be a good buy!
Recommended with mucho gusto....
OK, back to the ripping.... ;-)
