Connoisseur BD2/SAU2
I used to have this Connoisseur BD2 with SAU2 duo , bought it new I guess
mid 70's, and made my own plinth for it. It's possible to get a good sound
out of it, the plinth is ultra important and...

hi-fi versus AV- why?
Over to you, I've long ago lost my WW collection in a house move. I know
the old memory plays tricks sometimes, but I just know I've read a detailed
technical article on the subject, and WW was...

hi-fi versus AV- why?
Thanks. I also don't actually disbelieve the 'measurements are all that
matters' brigade, it's just that they're all using the wrong measurements!
I remember an article in Wireless World many moons...

hi-fi versus AV- why?
I'm convinced the truth of cable sound is that some people can hear it and
some can't, and that's all there is to it so it's a total waste of time
trying to convince anyone that they're wrong.

hi-fi versus AV- why?
I'm only guessing as I don't have an AV amp, but as there are so many
channels and facilities all fighting for space in the case, I assume they
use IC power amps to save room rather than the...

HiFi Answers used to be the most 'dark side' UK magazine. 50% useful info
mixed with 50% wacky stuff. I remember they kept going on about some magic
bits of sticky tape or something invented by...

ZU Wax Speaker Cable (a Kimber basher?)
A very long thin speaker cable will reduce sound quality - FACT.
If you agree with this then you automatically agree with the fact that
cables can sound different, it's just a matter of by how much...

ZU Wax Speaker Cable (a Kimber basher?)
I KNOW I would win, but I would have to do it with my system and that don't
move (i.e. immovable object, speakers bolted into a concrete floor etc.),
and no one's coming here so that's that. I...

I thought about the implications of the DBT after posting, so I apologise
for the "Come off it....." stuff.

darkened or...

ZU Wax Speaker Cable (a Kimber basher?)
Come off it, I can't see there being any problem with me being able to hear
differences, but you would just say there's no difference. Perhaps people's
hearing is different in ways we can't...

ZU Wax Speaker Cable (a Kimber basher?)
I think I reused the same connectors for the headphone extension cable, they
certainly weren't anything special, it was the cables that made the
difference. I didn't need fancy wires to get a...

ZU Wax Speaker Cable (a Kimber basher?)
I don't know about this ZU stuff, but if someone can't hear the difference
between at least some speaker cables then they must either have low
resolution audio equipment or little ability to listen...

stable voltage to run the motor. Motors rarely run...

Wire the driver in series with a 0.47R resistor (or thereabouts) and drive
it with your sig gen if it's powerful enough, if not go through a power amp,
and measure the voltage across the resistor...

ESL57 - a difficult load?
Probably the output transistors would go short circuit followed by the
fuse(s) blowing. However, there wouldn't be much chance of this in practice
unless you drive the amp with a square wave at...

especially speaker cables, but more often there's no difference with
half-decent line level cables. I only trust my own ears,...
