Audio, hi-fi and car audio - Where do all these wires go?!?!?

Hi,
I did already know that, but no need to apologise! I've got it all fitted
and I've come to the conclusion that Pioneer just make wierd equipment!
the wires and connections are as follows:

/--Power cable (12v DC switched)--\
\/ \/---------Amp Rem cable-----\/ \/
Head Unit ------RCA cable ------- Sub (active, so
Amp too) ---- Ground
Battery ------Yellow power cable (with inline fuse)---/\

Hope that makes sense, it's the second power cable (the switched power) that
doesnt make any sense, there's just no need for it - it's not to save
battery when the ignition isnt on because the Amp Rem cable does that, and
its not to provide the main power where the battery power cable is used to
provide backup because theres no settings to back up!!! Just Pioneer being
strange I guess.

anyone else puzzled by pioneer products?

When you say there is a red wire that is supposed to be connected to
the cars fuse box is this a long thick red wire about the same size as
the earth wire you fitted in the boot. If so this is the main power
for you amp. This should be connected to the positive terminal of
your battery with an inline fuse and is connected to the power supply
terminal of your amp. It works like this:-

The amp requires massive amounts of power which ordinary thin cable
could not handle. This is where the thick red wire comes in. The amp
remote from you head unit tells the amp to switch on and begin drawing
power down the large cable. This is amongst other things designed to
prevent the amp from taking power from the battery when the stereo is
off and running the battery dead.

know.
