No cigar lighter!?!
hi,
I've got an old style corsa and have my eye on a few things that need a cigar lighter for their power. but my car doesn't have one! just a blanking plate where it should be. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fit a lighter or wire stuff straight into the car?!? thanks James |

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fit a lighter or wire stuff straight into the car?!? Run a heavy-ish wire direct from the battery into the car. Put a fuse of equal rating equal to the fuse of the biggest device you're planning to run as close to the battery as possbile. If you're not using this to light cigars (etc.), then I'd go for a more discrete connector mounted to the side of the console or under the dash. Or inside the glovebox even. Have a look at http://www.maplin.co.uk for inspiration on that front. Your decision will obviously depend on what kind of devices you plan to use, and the power they draw. Earth the connector to the nearest bit of chassis/bodywork. Steve. |

Steve. before you go running wires about check the wiring loom nearest to the blanking plate Fords and Vauxhall had a habit of using a common loom for many models if you are lucky there may be a connector taped to the loom at the relavent point Derek --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
