Default FM Modulator Qs

Hi all,

I have bought an FM modulator for my car radio (the type that plugs into the
radio's aerial socket, not the mini transmitter type) so I can use my MD in
the car. I am going to install it this weekend but have a few questions.

Will the unit block all incoming signals from the car aerial when powered
up? If so I presume I need to wire a switch to turn the modulator off when I
want to listen to radio stations. If it does block all other stations, why
does the unit have a switch to choose one of three frequencies? Surely all
of them would be clear if the aerial signal is blocked?

Also, are there any rules about where to mount the unit? Should I keep it
away from the alarm system wiring for example?

Thanks for any help!

Mark
