Default sony HUs and sub-out

Hi,

on some Sony HUs, like MP80 and M850MP, there is a so called 'subout', a
wire that leaves the radio with the same connectors as for the front and
rear amps.

Has anybody tried this feature ? I can't find any info about it in the
manual nor in the sony-brochure.
Is it possible to connect a subwoofer without an amp ? And what about the
two connectors, that looks like stereo to me ? I would think I only need one
for a subwoofer...

Thanks,

Frederik

Yep , normal phono plugs.

Has anybody tried this feature ?

Me. Its quite handy because you can adjust the output level to the sub
independantly of the other output which makes setting up your stereo a lot
easier.

Nope , you still need an amp

You do , and its a mono output from both connectors in case you want two
amps

It is a good feature to have as you can also set the frequency for the
sub too as well as the level.
