opinions on the Blaupunkt Modena
 

Looking at the latest CD53 model as they have on Bluspot.co.uk which
seems to be cheaper there, than the CD51 and CD 52 models on sale else
where.

I know it needs an additional cable, but that seems cheaper than the
Pioneer and Sony Unilink solutions with their breakout boxes.

I imagine that the output will be at least as good as my basic Panasonic
unit that I have in now, and the CarPC will sound much better than
through the FM Modulator.

www.bluespot.co.uk and www.my-blaupunkt.com will usually have very similar
pricing, but yes, cheaper than elsewhere since they are Blaupunkt
specialists.

Yes, and as you've probably realised, the aux-input cable on the blaupunkt
is merely a small cable, rather than a larger interface component like
Pioneer's IP-Bus parts etc.

I can't give my opinions on the CD53 in particular. I do have the MP72 from
that range and am satisfied with the quality. My only real gripe would be
that when listening to the radio, the choice to change band is buried a
keypress or two too deep in the menus for my liking.

I seem to hear lots of good stuff about Blaupunct, but then everynow and
again, I get the odd comment like "They just re-use last years Sony".

I don't need state of the art, it will only be powering 4 Kicker 4"
speakers, with maybe a small active sub later, so I don't need the
qulaity that a Nakamichi would provide, unless of course I had won those
auctions that I was trying for ealier.

The Modena is a little flashy, but at least it is black and has red
lighting.

Found the maunuals
Cheers for that.
Couple more questions.
Modena CD53 looks great, has a flip off front.
But I'm now torn.
Whether to go with a better London CD70, or the slightly newer Modena
CD53.

The London has TIM (traffic info) storage which the Modena is missing.
and it is an October special.

Problem is, security is a keycard, not a removeable front. wonder how
many scrotes will car that it doesn't have the card there (or even know
it is missing) when they see it folded open, rather than a fully removed
front.
