Default peugeot 306 steering remote to another stereo

Got a L reg pug 306, had the standard fit cassette radio which has the
remote by the steering wheel,

we've fitted a panasonic cd player in the dash (mp3 player etc) and this one
has an input for a steering wheel remote.. but it gives not more details,

the input is a single wire on the plug in loom, and all the instructions say
is to 'refer to the maker of the remote for how to connect it'

the remote on the pug terminates in a multi way plug, about 10 or so
connections, is there an adaptor we can get that the steering remote plugs
into, and converts it to a single wire data type signal i expect the
panasonic head unit wants??

the panasonic has infa red remote capability, and this is listed seperately,
and the sensor for that is on the front of the unit, the other remote is
refered to as a steering mounted remote, and is a wire connection,

checked the panasonic web site out, and while it lists the stereo, it dosent
even show the optional infa red remote for these stereo's.. which the
instruction book claims is a place to get one from.. or yourt local dealer..
bought the stereo on-line for something silly like 99 quid.. so got 2 so
i'll be fitting the other one into my van, where i'll be making the wiring
up as i go along, as it's not got any factory wiring in place, but if i can
get a pug remote to work with this unit, then i can get one from the
screpper and retro fit it to my van.

The stereo is a panasonic CQRDP383 CD Tuner if anyone's wondering.

Try http://www.incardiscount.co.uk/acata..._ADAPTERS.html

But to be honest the 306 Stalk Remote is hit and miss at the best of times
and has limited functionability. You would probably be best to go with the
IR remote accessory for your Panasonic, as this will let you control most of
the features of your particular HU.

Nick.

Cheers for that, that's where we'll get one from,

i'm not that bothered about what it does to be honnest.. not my car, me
brother is just moaning that he chose that stereo because it said it could
work with steering remote stalks, and was annoyed when it didn't just plug
in.. he has a lot to learn

for his car the stereo is only half a hands width away from the steering
wheel anyway, so i can't personaly see the point of the stalk.

however on my van, which i'm fitting the same model stereo to, it's located
down at about knee height.. handy as it's hidden from the scrotes view when
they are checking out vehicles to knick stereo's from, but bloody useless to
adjust when driving down the road,

so i'll be going round the scrap yard soon, and finding a car with a decent
stalk remote controll, one with as many functions as i can get, then i'll
make it fit my van, and get an adaptor to use it with the panasonic stereo,
for my aplication i need as many functions available as i can get on the
stalk, but i see that there are not that many on the infa red remote
controll for this stereo,
anyone know how many functions can be replicated by a stalk controll with
the panasonic RDP383 stereo?? will it just be the ones that the infa red
remote can controll, or can i get more?
