Astra Standard Radio Casette Removal

Hi everyone.

Sorry that my first post to this group is so trivial and is probably a bit
off topic for a technical arena but I couldnt find a FAQ.

I own an old (K) registration Vauxhaul Astra and need to remove the existing
stereo. Can anyone who has undertaken this feat help me out or point me to a
site where I may take instruction.

Also, is it possible to keep the dashboard mounted display still functioning
as a clock/calendar? I have heard from an uninformed source that a link is
all thats required.

My reason for asking is that I have been given a new system to fit to my car
and, once the old one is out, I am confident of my abilities to refit the
new one ..... only having to pay for a bridging loom/connector instead of
shelling out 50 quid to my local ice emporium!

All the very best

Tim

Standard (DIN) Radio Removal Keys
DIN Radio Release Keys to remove the majority of radios as fitted in
Ford, early Peugeot, Rover, Renault, Vauxhall.

If your radio has 1 or 2 holes at each side of the radio, these are
the Keys needed.

Some Vauxhall radio models require you to remove the 4 small studs
with a (5/64" or 2mm) Allen Key before you can insert the release keys.

Pushing four nails or similar items into the four holes, then sticking your
hand in the tape player and giving it a good yank also works :)

Google is your friend.

Thanks for the advice, I was unsure if a key slipped down the side of the
unit or, as is the case, into the four holes.

Pushing four nails or similar items into the four holes, then sticking

your
hand in the tape player and giving it a good yank also works :)

This will be my first angle of attack!!

Google is your friend.

Google is indeed my friend .. but a bit of a two faced friend who keeps
changing his mind on what way to go ;-)
Seriously, I checked google but found conflicting instructions. I thought
(correctly) that I would get better advice here.

All the best

Tim
