Ford 5000 fader problem
Hi,
I've just handed on a Ford 5000 Radio Cassette to my son for use in a Y2000 Fiesta. Currently there are just front door speakers fitted (factory fitted tweeter plus mid/bass). He's fitting some extra speakers in the rear parcel shelf and naturally wants to use the fader control - the thing is, it won't work. The fader works in the original vehicle but not in his. In the Focus, it doesn't matter if the speakers are connected or not, so the Fader function isn't sensing the presence of rear speakers. There is an additional cable present on the power connector in the Focus that I have to assume is the key to this feature, what do I need to do to replicate this connection in the Fiesta? Testing says it's an earth link only, but simply supplying an earth doesn't do the job. Can anyone shed any light on this??? TIA Pete |

Haha!!
It is as you thought! I was talking ********. I didn't turn off the unit when disconnecting the rear speakers and so the electronics didn't 'know' I'd done this, hence the fader option stayed live. Of course the presence of Rear speakers is sensed - DOH! Sorry to waste space, Regards, Pete ;o) "PC" wrote in message ... are you guys smoking..????
the radio does not sense anything... if the rear speakers are disconnected it will still fade to the front or the rear... there are eight wires for speakers... for hot and four ground.... you need all hoked up to hear four/front and rear sound.... david http://www.turntablerepair.com Haha!!
