Ford 2006 Stereo Locked Out
 

I bought a Ford Escort automatic last year and it has a Ford 2006
stereo in it. I have the code written down in the Ford Audio Systems
book even though the book doesn't have that model of hi fi featured in
it (it has 2007, 2008 but no 2006).

Anyway, the blower stopped working and whilst fitting the new fuse I
removed the 21 fuse and the radio now shows CODE ---- (no flashing).
It did this as soon as I replaced the 21 fuse and it did not flash or
prompt for entry.

I read that if you leave the ignition on for 30 mins it flashes and
allows entry of code. I did this and got the flashing lights. I used
the 1, 2, 3 and 4 buttons to key in the code that I have. Then I
pressed the SELECT key. The display locked up on me.

Can anyone offer any assistance? What is the "enter" key on this model
and if my code is wrong is there a back door?
