Default Alpine 9835 Going in 2003 Mk4 Astra Advice

Hi, I'm looking to purchase the Alpine 9835 MP3 Player, I plan to Install it
in my 2003 Mk4 Astra SXi, I'm looking for quite a bit of advice before I go
part with my hard earned cash.

I would like to know the following.

1: Going off some of the web sites retailing the Alpine 9835, the only
pictures I can find of the unit seem to have the displayed shown in black
and white, is this the case or is the display colour?

2: I want to be able to make use of the factory radio display console on my
Astra as well as the stereos display, I've been told that quite a few
stereos can make duel use of this i.e. : some Kenwood systems, however I see
from the specs of the 9835 that it says "vehicle display output" does this
mean I could plug whatever wiring I have straight into the back or would I
need a interface?

3: Another question would be that I want to be able to use my steering wheel
controls on my Astra and that the Alpine 9835 specs state "OEM Steering
control output", would I need an adaptor or again would this plug straight
in.

PS: I acknowledge that I would need a ISO adaptor for the power/speakers
etc, I have a standard CD500 stereo installed in my Astra atm.

I was looking at this stereo in Halfords but none of the staff in there
could answer any of my questions, I don't want to me branching out over £400
to find out it cant do what I want it to do.

Many thanks for any help and advice.

Not sure only pictures I've seen are white text, seems to have a
coloured background though.

Not sure on this one either, had no luck finding info on this myself.

I think steering wheels can be used by purchasing the Alpine KWE-871E.
Unfortunately I purchased a standard ISO converter before finding this so
have not used it myself.

Ditto, I went to Halfords to have a look and they only had the 9831. The guy
told me it was not connected up properly so I would not be able to put a cd
in it. I thought this kind of strange seen as it was all lit up, anway tried
it myself when he'd gone and sure enough when you press the eject button
(not the play/pause button like he did) it opened up fine.

Many thanks for any help and advice.

For info. I tried to fit my new stereo on Saturday and could not get the old
one to come out. Don't know if its just mine playing up or if this is
common. I don't have the correct removal tools but this has not been a
problem with other cars I've had, my home made tool has always worked spot
on. Anyway just thought it was worth a mention, might be worth getting the
proper tools or asking somebody to remove it for you. I've booked mine in
for its long overdue service and am going to ask them to remove it for me
while its in.
