Newbie questions about intallations and DAB radios... please take pity on me!
Hi guys, hoping someone might be able to help a complete idiot when it comes
to car audio. OK, here goes... I'm about to buy a 2 year old second hand Honda Jazz for my wife and it has a fairly tinny sounding radio with 2 speakers. The road noise is fairly high from the back and the speakers are right down by the drivers ankles so even with the radio up fairly high, its hard to hear anything decent. Question 1: As the radio isn't the older rectangular style that I'm use to but is moulded in a rather oval shape fitting -(hopefully you know what I mean.) If I want to fit an alternative radio in the future, will I always be stuck with the factory one? Question 2: If the answer is No to above, then does someone make some sort of aftermarket faceplate or something to make everything look similar to the way that the old radio blended with the dash? Where do they come from? Honda? How much? Question 3: I love my DAB radio at home as I love BBC 6 music(don't ask) - If I buy a Woodstock DAB52 or similar can I expect decent reception or is the technology just not advanced yet as I heard a few years ago that DAB radios in car never really work. Something about glass mounted aerials or something. last, but not least, Question 4: As a guestimate, how much am I likely going to need to spend if I want to change the radio to DAB and get an aerial and all the extra bits, and add a couple decent speakers to the back and get somewhere reliable to fit it? £300, £400? more? Question5: I know, I know Can anyone recommend an DAB knowledable installer in Aylesbury, Bucks or nearby (Oxford, High Wycombe, Milton Keynes) that I could discuss all this and buy from? Thanks in advance! |
