Blaupunkt Woodstock 52/53 DAB
I am looking to buy one of the aforementioned car radios. My main concern
however is installation. I would like an external aerial to recieve the DAB signal but I'm unsure what this entails. Ideally I would like to be able to remove my current aerial and just screw in a new one but from what I read this won't work. I would really prefer not to drill any holes into the bodywork. Any hints would be much appreciated. I own a 2002 Volkswagen Polo (don't laugh) would there be any power consumption issues there. I'm new to this so thanks for any help. Colin |

Bear in mind that the audio quality on DAB is far worse than the audio quality on FM. If you want decent audio quality then get something like a Blaupunkt DSP-enhanced FM car stereo, such as: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/daytona.asp (MP3 CD / tuner £140) Blaupunkt call their DSP-enhanced FM tuners DigiCeiver: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/digiceiver.asp Neither of the DAB 52 or 53 have a DigiCeiver, so you'd be stuck with lower audio quality DAB. I'm afraid the hype surrounding DAB is just that; hype. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info DAB sounds worse than FM, Freeview, digital satellite, cable and broadband internet radio |

I take your point but I want DAB for two reasons.
1. To get some of the stations unavailable on FM 2. I listen to MW stations a lot and surely they are better on DAB? Thanks for the info though "DAB sounds worse than FM" wrote in message ... Thanks for the info though SNIP Dont listen to that angry idiot - DAB is great IF and only IF you want the extra stations or the DAB versions of MY stations. If you want to listen to Radio 1 etc then listen to it on FM as it does sound better. Having said that 128 Kbps stations on DAB sound fine - and depending on your audio equipment you may not notice a big difference. As regards MW stations on DAB - its awesome. Hearing 5 Live or TalkSport on DAB is a joy. I now also find myself listening to Virgin occasionally (I only get MW coverage where I am). If you like classic BBC comedy and drama check out BBC7 too - its excellent. |

Get ****ed arsehole. - DAB is great IF and only IF you want the extra stations or the DAB versions of MY stations. We don't all listen to YOUR stations, dummy. If you want to listen to Radio 1 etc then listen to it on FM as it does sound better. Having said that 128 Kbps 128 kbps, not 128 Kbps. There's a difference, dummy. stations on DAB sound fine 128kbps DAB stations sound fine? I suggest you get your ears syringed. - and depending on your audio equipment you may not notice a big difference. If you've got speakers that cost £2.99 then maybe you won't hear a difference. As regards MW stations on DAB - its awesome. It's awesome? Tell me, do you usually shoot your load whenever you merely glimpse an attractive woman? Hearing 5 Live or TalkSport on DAB is a joy. You sound like that lad off the Fast Show who walks round excitedly saying everything's fabulous. How anybody could call mono talk radio stations "awesome" is completely beyond me. See ya, awesome dude. Moron. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info DAB sounds worse than FM, Freeview, digital satellite, cable and broadband internet radio |
