The official post to this ng fell foul of crossposting limits :-( You may send an empty email to in order to receive the complete CFV along with a ballot form. The discussion of the two RFDs has been unusually fractious and factional, even for unnc. There were several groups each opposing all others, whose positions are summarized below: However that summary, whilst technically correct, does not reflect the RFDs, google has the disussion in full. That gps discussion should be in uk.rec.(existing ng).gps, or uk.(existing ng).gps, etc. but no such RFD has been raised for any of the about 26 ngs suggested by this group. That uk.tech.gps should be created, which would require a different RFD and would create a completely different newsgroup. They are unwilling to RFD it and prefer to oppose this RFD. Because no one actually wants them. Every argument for the proposed group was really one for (yet another) specialised application that would have been better addressed in an existing group or - if pushed - in existing group.gps That a choice be given between the various disparate and competing options, or groups of options. That anything associated with the proponent should be rejected. Many people support the creation of uk.rec.gps. I wonder. Google - and think -hard- before you vote. If a bunch of 'gps nerds' (NOI) want a playground to talk techie gps-talk why should anyone want to pro-actively stop them? Er, they haven't proposed that - but don't take my word for it. Rather than reiterate the arguments here it really would be better to review the threads in uk.net.news.config - go back to about the 20th of October. Read them, consider them, and then vote it out without me having influenced your decision in any way... Cheerio, -- http://www.farm-direct.co.uk/ |
