Connecting an ipod
 

Hi

I want to connect an ipod to my Renault Clio (2003), not sure on the radio
installed but it is the factory fit one.

I have found this adaptor and want to know will it do.

I also have the following questions I posted on the connects2 forum but I am
still waiting for responses.

Looking on the back next to the ISO adaptor there is what looks like a space
for an auto-changer, I guess this is what I could plug the above adaptor in
to?

The reason for asking is when you press the source button you don't get the
option for a multichanger but I am guessing this will appear when there is a
wire in the above mentioned port?

Looking at a connects2 adaptor in Halfords today (cant remember type it was
in the clearance basket) it required an input from a battery, does anyone
know does this and how do I go about it? I am happy plugging cables together
but really I am not sure about cutting cables!!!

Anyone know where to buy them in the UK as I haven't seen this type anywhere
or will halfords be able to order them in?

any rough guides on price?

Looking at the post so far, I can understand why there are no responses.

The post is full of irrelevant info.

Basically you want to connect an MP3 player to be played via the car stereo,
whether it be a 1977 Skoda or Bentley coupe the priciples will be the same.
dont go to Halfords for in car audio advice!
Buy yourself and FM audio adaptor, there is a specific one for the iPod or
you can look at the Audax which apparently is better and cheaper.
This way you don't have to interfere with the car loom, when you buy or use
a real car you can easily transfer the current equipment.

Those FM transmitters are illeagle so i dont really want to use one if i can
get away without it and also the sound quality is ment to degrade with them!

What FM transmitter? The device that was mentioned converts various
line level audio signals into an FM modulated signal so that you can
tune it into a spare preset on the head unit, nothing is transmitted
over the air, it just plugs in in-line with the FM aerial connection.

easy as in `piece of pi**` easy. drop me an email and i will make a
few suggestions
FWIW the Modulators that avanti talks about are completely LEGAL to
use, but as you point out DO degarde the sound quality, stick with the
direct connection if you can.

naturally they are limited by the restrictions of the FM radio tuiner, but
with today's modern music, it all sounds ****e anyway.
