Default Pioneer DEHP77MP vs DEH-P80MP

Hi,

First timer taking a plunge into buying a new head unit after years of
suffering with a cassette tuner (*shudder*) in my Volvo. I wanted to go
for an MP3 player and have narrowed my choices down to the 2 Pioneer
players within my £250 budget (excl fitting).

Any opinions on these two players?

The lowest price I have found for the p77 is £212.82 from
empiredirect. The p80 is going for just under 60 quid more at £269.99
at caraudio direct.

I initially wanted to go for the p77 because of its clean looks and
classic design. But will it go obsolete quicker?

Any tips/advice/alternative suggestions/cheaper prices for a newbie,
gratefully received.

Alex

Hijacking this alittle, how are these units at long mp3 filenames and ID3
tags.

I have a 77MP and am very pleased. Mainly bought because it is the only unit
in the world that doesn't light up like Blackpool Illuminations. Having said
that the white leds do not dim on even this unit and can be a little bright.
As for its' capabilities, Pioneer.co.uk has an ICE section and all manuals
are available for download but as I remember, 31 chars in name, 3 folders
deep, 256 files per folder WMA 8 & 9 (NOT 9.1) as well.
