External DVD player audio through car stereo problem
Hi
Can anyone help with this query please. I dont know much about car audio so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have an external 12V DVD player and screen, I want to run the audio through the existing Philips radio/cassette in the car (sorry cant find a model number on it). The front of the Philips unit indicates that you can run a CD changer through it, so I've checked the back and there are red and white female phono connections. I've connected the DVD player to these with the following problems. 1 When I try to change the source it comes up with no source. 2 I can get audio from the DVD player, but have no control of the volume from the radio/cassette and the audio only comes from the rear speakers. 3 If the source is on Radio, I get the radio through all 4 speakers and the DVD also playing throught the rear speakers. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I want to use the DVD player so I can have a larger choice of audio/video (Radio/Tape/CD/DVD/MP3) without a huge expense. There is no reference to the radio cassette in my car owners manual. and without knowing the model, I cant find a manual for the radio cassette. thanks in advance Rick |
