Hi

I have a boat which is fitted with a Pioneer Radio/Cassette/ CD changer..
and two speakers it's nothing very special but does the job well enough.. I
also use a laptop computer aboard and the sound system on the laptop is
dreadful.. so it occurred to me that maybe I could buy an amp for me
wireless that had a aux input where I could plug in the laptop and run the
audio output from the laptop through the same amp/speaker that I use for the
radio...... is that feasible or am I way off mark.. or is there a better
alternative that I won't have to sell the boat to buy.

I've got one of them cassette adapters to plug my 40Gb jukebox into.
Sounds fine to me. Obviously depends on how far your laptop is from the
Pioneer.
Maplins sell 'em for under a tenner.

Assuming the head unit is IP-Bus compatible (in which case it'll have
a P in the part number), you could just buy a Pioneer CD-RB20
(http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...?partno=CDRB20) and
hook the laptop audio straight into the head unit using a 3.5mm to RCA
cable.

eerrmm bit embarrassing..... my Pioneer has some how changed into a JVC
still not sure of the model but I think it's one on these

Some recent car stereos do have an aux input for this very purpose. Check
the handbook.

The other simple way is a cassette adaptor. This looks like a cassette,
but has electronics which couple any external source into the radio via
the cassette replay head. They're rather variable in quality, though.

AFAIK, in that case, you'll probably have to use either a cassette
adaptor or FM modulator.

How is the CD changer connected to the radio/cassette unit? And would it be
possible to connect the laptop audio output the same way, via a mixer or
switch?
