Blaupunkt Aux in cable

Hi.

I just installed a Blaupunkt aux-in cable into my Blaupunkt Lausanne.
Doesnt work. The sound from my portable is very quiet and seems out of
phase (like all the stuff in the centre of the mix is cancelled out).
Its not the portable because it works with my home stereo. I noticed
that pulling the jack out of the portable slighly improves matters
considerably so I wondered of the wiring was wrong I tried to check it
by using a second lead into my portable with trailing bare wires at the
other end touched these to combinations of TRS on the aux-in jack but
couldnt ID the left and right channels.

Any idea whats going on?

Blaupunkt Aux in cable

Just discovered that if I ground the cable sheild to the Lausanne's
case it works. Looks like the ground pin (no 18 labeled AF-Masse/GND)
isnt dong its job. I notice pin 17 is also a ground (labeled
Bus-Masse/GND). Can I use that instead or is it OK to ground to the
case.
