Line driver?
Got a Sony MEX-1HD in a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro...
I'm running the front channels plus sub from a Sony XM-4060 amplifier. Rears are running off the Audi active speaker system. However, the gain of the rear amplifier is quite a bit lower than the "standard" gain, whatever that happens to be. (I normally set the gain so the level is the same as using the head unit's onboard amp.) Now I've seen this gadget: http://www.incarelectrics.co.uk/prod...For=&PT_ID=473 which looks like it'll increase the level on the rears to match the front, but it has 3 outputs, which is two more than required. However, I've been informed that hooking a line driver up to the head unit end of a long cable (5m or so) can improve the sound quality. So, two options. Firstly, anyone know of a unit similar to the above that has one set of outputs rather than 3. Alternatively, is there a unit that has two sets of inputs and outputs, so I can boost the signal for the front and rear channels? At a push I could just fit this unit to drive the Audi active system of course. -- Glenn Richards Tel: (01453) 845735 Squirrel Solutions http://www.squirrelsolutions.co.uk/ IT consultancy, hardware and software support, broadband installation |
