Fitting Tweeters
Gah.
I've got a 1994 Nissan Primera SGX with tweeters fitted as standard in the A-Pillars. They're about 12 mm depth... Unfortunately one of them just decided to give up over night. One day, fine, the next day, bad. Can't figure it out. So a replacement is in order. I picked up a pair of Alpine something or the other, but they're about 17 mm depth because of the ridiculous casing manufacturers like putting on. I need solutions. There's already a rather large hole in the A-Pillar trip for the existing speaker grill. But it's misshaped, and would end up that I would have 0.5mm gap at the top and bottom of the new tweeter flush mounting kit. Also I don't think I'd get the entire kit securely fitted due to lack of depth on the A-Pillar. The tweeter won't fit to the bracket, or under the trim because there's not enough depth... and I really dislike the idea of making holes. I also even more dislike the idea of making holes when there's already a hole. Any suggestions? Or maybe someone knows of some slim line tweeters? Or maybe someway to dismantle speaker and casing??? Or perhaps some way of fitting them stylishly with no holes? |
