VW Passat gamma radio/cd problem

The gamma radio in my 98 Passat has developed a problem where it will only
pick up very strong radio signals, and also it fails to detect my cd
changer. It still plays cassettes no problem. Both of these have happened at
the same time. After a bit of googling, it appears that there may be an
antenna amplifier somewhere - presumably both this and the cd changer are
powered from the radio? If so, would this indicate a fault with the radio?
The electrics in the car are suffereing a few other problems related to the
CCM as detailed here which I haven't yet had checked.

Would this CCM also have anything to do with devices powered from the radio?

thanks

The amplifier is fitted to the antenna where it enters the roof. That's
what the hard rubber boot is covering. I changed mine but found no
difference in radio reception. I then started checking out all the earth
points I could find and found that the battery earth directly under the
battery (naturally) was slightly corroded. After cleaning this the
reception has definitely improved but still not back to what it was when
I first got my 99 Passat. I live with it.

The interior light problem goes along with any door lock problems.
