Looking for Quad ESLs
After some years of listening to my friends old ESL's, I'm coming round to
the idea that maybe I should get a pair myself. Can anyone recommend a decent ESL FAQ to save me asking lots of stupid questions here? TIA __Steve__ |

And I doubt they'd be any more stupid than some. -- *Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject Dave Plowman London SW 12 RIP Acorn |

That may not have been a seemingly helpful post, but that sort of response was a bit uncalled for don't you think?. Its not that likely to make anyone else bother to try to help. Try ebay or loot or indeed a Google search as there are a few second-hand sales websites around that may be able to help. Anyway apart from that make sure that the speakers haven't been "spiked" and don't make any cracks as they are working or fizz quietly on standby. Some evidence of their service history is very important as IIRC Quad don't service these anymore and although there is a company in Germany that does the costs aren't likely to be cheap. A Google search therefore, might be well recommended. Still, I'm certain that once you find a pair you'll be well pleased with them. A fine speaker as it was when it was first made, and still holds its own with a lot else available... -- Tony Sayer |

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent ESL FAQ to save me asking lots of stupid questions here? To get started, try these: http://www.quadesl.org/ http://www.flashbacksales.co.uk/Classique.htm http://www.zen10264.zen.co.uk/html/faq.html Some of those links don't go to the 'home pages' of the respective sites, so you may have to dig a little. Hope it helps. -- Regards, Glenn Booth |
