Running long wires around the perimeter of the room past (or over) several doorways or drilling holes to run the wires below floors is much more work than plugging the speakers into a power outlet. IIRC, it's possible to send digital information through mains wiring - might be a viable non-wireless solution? Sure, soon as someone implements the interfaces. Kal |

True, it depends where the sockets are. IIRC, it's possible to send digital information through mains wiring - might be a viable non-wireless solution? Sure, soon as someone implements the interfaces. The technology exists, for making cheap + easy lans. For example see http://www.lanergy.com/index.php?menu=3 -- Jim H jh @333 .org |

Just thinking on the wireless again, I dont know how 802.11a,b,g, etc. do broadcasts. that might be a way (with PLLs in the speakers) to get the things synched within reasonable limits... Btw, I take issue with your I hate java section ;) best to keep it OT though. "Bedouin" wrote Maplin do a wireless link designed for transmitting video whiich I imagine could be used to transmit audio only. Many thanks for your suggestions. I'll go away and digest them and let you know what eventually works. My main problem is that I have concrete floors!!! Regards, Tom Bennett Brentwood, UK |

: Many thanks for your suggestions. I'll go away and digest them and let : you know what eventually works. My main problem is that I have concrete : floors!!! I ran video and stereo audio coax ~21m up through the ceiling and down, bypassing 3 doors, another room, and a passage; little visible impact. Actually almost every room is wired now, but it's an old wooden place ... If you can get into the roof space and the walls are hollow, try cable. |
