Delighted to see it's getting on nicely (and love the content of Glenn's
post), but I would query the wisdom of any cross-posting between ukra

and
ukrav (the 'uk' bit is important to me......) otherwise it will, to some
extent, defeat the whole point of the exercise, no?....???

I think it would be worth cross-posting for a week or so, to help people
like me whose server doesn't seem to be offering ukrav. Respondents to
threads cross posted to ukra should respect the terms of the new ng--or
not respond there.

Strongly disagree, David.

If ukra and ukrav end up as 'mirrors' of each other with every damn thing
cross-posted, then the whole exercise (which has got me in the **** with the
Ayatollah for spending so much time sending bloody emails and posts!) will
have been a total waste of time for all concerned. The vinyl boys will be
'force-fed' the mind-numbingly boring Soundcard, AV and Cables crap that
seems to be all of ukra's traffic atm and the digital boys will be force-fed
a massively increased (hopefully :-) diet of vinyl. The doubtless,
cross-posted ****fests that are almost certain to follow will have even more
people ditching the whole damn thing - starting with myself!

(Pipex' ill-disguised indifference this morning, when I phoned them, was
quite enough for me to say '**** it' on its own......!!!)

I'm only talking about a week or so, till I and maybe others find a way
of subscribing directly. It's still not showing up in my list of
available groups, but I'm going to contact Zetnet (my ISP) about it
tomorrow, Monday.

Till then, without any cross-posting I'm out of the conversation.

Me too, David!

What you might be able to do is add 'news.cs.tu-berlin.de' to your 'news'
accounts which will let you see the posts but not post yourself - better
than nowt. (It's nice to see there's already a bit of action despite the
fact no bugger can get on it yet!)

If, nothing else, cross posting is very hard on ukra subscribers - ukrav is
an entirely separate group from this one as is, say, uk.rec.audio.car and
nobody wants their stuff crossposted in do they? Some of us 'vinylheads' are
just going to have to be a bit patient for the moment.

I shan't answer any more 'ukrav' posts in here again and will only repeat
that this venture is meant to improve the situation for both 'vinylheads'
and 'normal' ukra subscribers that are ****ed of with the ****fests. I don't
want ukra ****ted up with cross-posting from *any* other group....

(FWIW, my personal view is that cross-posting is very bad form in any
circumstances - nice little hook-up with RAO anyone?).
