I trained and worked with transmitting valve circuits

Ah right! No problem then. Well, as you know, you are looking at a push-pull
amp with beefy tubes, and not paralleled. I personally wouldn't go above 350v
or so but if you're feeling hardy you'll get more watts. There's a number of
posts on the asylum extolling 211 and 845 amps at lower voltages, but you lose
the power. Have you heard the Nagra for starters? Is your system balanced or
unbalanced?

Unbalanced via an ARC sp11 MkII pre but I could use the seperate inverted
output as well to makeup a balanced feed.. depending on if its truly
inverted (180 deg)

Have you looked at Allen Wright's amp on
http://www.vacuumstate.com/pow_announce_2003.htm
Very sound schematic, plus he has some recent mods. His basic design can be
used for beefy output tubes since the drive circuit has plenty of output. He's
reliable, high end, responds to questions, and does good kits which also look
good. One of my projects is to build his amp schematic myself! Good guy - he
publishes all his schematics. Andy
