quad loudspeaker maple colour
Dear all,
Excuse the non-audio question. There was a pair of 12L speakers for sale on e-bay. For those of you that own L series speakers, or have seen them and have the ability to retain this visual info, could you please tell me if they resemble most the "e-bay" or "catalogue" image at: http://ifans.home.cern.ch/ifans/choice.gif I realise the incosistencies of screen colours etc but the difference here is quite striking - one is tending towards white. I'd be happy for any help here. thanks, John |

Also consider that the Quads are made with real wood (not vinyl wrap) and, as such, you will see differences - no two slices of the same tree are the same, no two trees are the same etc. Then also consider that, over time, wood can darken when exposed to light. I recently met someone who had purchased an add-on speaker for the Pure Evoke 1 Radio. Real wood and didn't match the wood finish of the original radio (bought separately some months before) by quite a margin, even though they are both made from the same wood. Bottom line: short of picking out the specific pair of speakers that you want and keeping them in the dark you will have to suffer some variance. The lighter image looks closer to the last pair that I saw - most that I have seen have been somewhere between the two images. I have heard that Quad are building a limited edition "Cherry" finish of the 11Ls - might apply to other models too - might be worth you giving them a call if you want a slightly "orangier" hue. |
