I may be posting this to the wrong NG, but there seems to be a lot of
knowledgeable people here, so maybe someone can help me. I have recently acquired an old Revox B77 tape recorder which I want to experiment with. Unfortunately, I have no manuals or other information and I can't determine if the machine is a MkI or a MkII model. Does anyone know what the differences are? |

Lucky man!
I suggest that you ask the same question on the "Audio Asylum" discussion group. Lot's of knowledgable geeks here! http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/general/bbs.html "Off Piste" wrote in message ... Groups archive doesn't come up with much I'm afraid. My manual covers both machines but irritatingly does not define the differences between the MkI & MkII models. I'm trawling through the manual right now to find any & so far the MkII has the addition of a tape tension pcb & tape move sensor pcb. The capstan speed control schematic also differs slightly between the two. There doesn't look to be ground breaking changes here..I think both the MkI & II could have15ips as an option. Hey I'm not a Revox expert so no flames pleeze. Mike |

I've got the A77, 70 odd pages, about 2.5 mb zip in tif format. If that means anything, or you think it's useful, email me and I'll send it to you. Rob |

Hey I'm not a Revox expert so no flames pleeze. Mike Revox in general did not make huge changes between marks - they got it pretty much right first time round. The 15ips option will certainly have been an option from the start as the B77 succeeded the A77 and that has a 15ips option (I know because I have one). There is a yahoo group called StuderRevox for owners like you and I and another group reeltoreel for more general stuff but full of very knowlegdable people. Ian |

Many thanks everyone for your help and advice. I've discovered that my
machine is a B77 MkI (apparently, if it had been a MkII it would have been marked as such) and I can now buy the correct spare parts and manuals with confidence. Cheers and best wishes to you all. |
