Hi,

Could someone advise me on how to get my cable network to my parents granny
flat.

We have Sky T.V. connected to our VCR and then to our main TV.
Tried taking a co-ax RF output but guess run must have been too long.
(Works O.K. if I bring their set alongside)
Next tried a Wireless Video Sender. Generally works O.K. but often there is
interference etc.
Have investigated all appliances, PC, cordless phone etc. not only with
ourselves but next door neighbour.
Tried repositioning of transmitter and receiver but to no avail.
Transmission frequency is 2.4 GHz but cannot find any way to change this
should the interference be coming from another source.
Tried contacting manufacturer but no reply.

Would consider putting in a SCART but think distance too long - approx 30
ft.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

How did you feed the coax run..? A simple splitter is unlikely to work,
you need a distribution amp, preferably a high gain one; most of the
cheap amps you see in the shops have a gain of around 6dB or so, you could
do with one with say 30dB gain. They are available, but somewhat like
hen's teeth to find..! Maybe someone here can advise a source (I could do
with another one..!)

30dB would probably be a bit excessive and overdrive the input of the TV on
the shorter cable - unless an attenuator was in circuit. 10dB per port would
be better to overcome the splitting and cable losses.

Hi Thanks Group for all your inputs - will have a go at Distribution amps at
local friendly retailer.

Dad is keen on Cricket and the Rugby Heniken Cup etc.

Bill is there anyone younger than you ?
I left college in 1955 !!!!! we used superhetrodynes at the time - no
problems .

If you have a spare SCART, and that will do what you need, programme wise,
it will easily run both pics and sound for more than 30 ft. But you'll
have to make your own lead I'd guess. You can buy SCART cable by the metre
from the likes of Maplin, but easier to make one wiring up just the
composite video and audio.

Not necessarily so over a long run. I tried a lower gain amp and didn't
get a very good picture over a run of approx. 15m or so, 30dB works fine.
I get no problems with a TV on a 1m cable from the same amp either.
