SACD and channel outputs
Apologies if this is off topic -if so any recommended groups??
However...... I have a Denon 2200 player, and Yamaha ASP5 amp, mainly used for a projector home cinema system - and damn good it is too, generally. I have also got a few SACDs and DVD audio discs. Amongst the SACD collection is Mike Oldfield (tubular bells ...what else -:) and I get no output from either the sub, or the centre speaker. I am pretty sure the system is set up correctly, and cables / connectors etc are sound. As I get something from every channel on Pink Floyd (dark side of the moon ) SACD, and Sting's (ten summoners tales) on DTS (DVD audio), is it just that Tubular bells does not have any data on the sub and centre channel?? I expect some flames from people stating that I have answered my own question, but you know how it is when a little thing niggles you - you just gotta try and find answers ! Surely someone else has this particular disc other than me !!! TYIA |

TYIA Just looked at a Sony Booklet that came with my copy of Tubular Bells, as when I got disc it was just out. It shows a man standing there with 5 speakers but no Sub used -- Dave xxxx http://www.davewhitter.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Music is Art - Audio is Engineering Steam is Fun |

The SACD uses the original Quadraphonic mix and so will have no centre info. |

One of my current SACD players indicates the number of active channels and many use 6, some use 5 and some use 4. Of course, some (all?) use 2. ;-) Kal |

It is a hybrid SACD ( appears to be only available on SACD as a hybrid) Yes
....I am using analogue conxns to the amps 5.1 inputs, and selecting "external decoder" on the player etc etc. Think from what I have subsequently read on google searches that it is indeed only the original "quadrophonic" mix...so no centre channel is likely . Can't understand why sub-woofer doesn' kick in though?? "Hawkey" wrote in message ... Apologies if this is off topic -if so any recommended groups?? However......
