Dodgy quality CDs?

I bought the new Basement Jaxx album a week or two back, and as a result of
my usual maltreatment (leaving it in a car doorpocket with 20 other CDs),
there are a fair few pinholes in the aluminium layer. I've never experienced
this problem before, even with CDRs and CDs that have been knocking around
in the car for ages, unless they've been on the floor. Anyone got any ideas
on if I've any comeback (very doubtful, I know), or if they've started
pressing CDs on the cheap?

If you have the receipt and swap like-for-like I can't imagine any
retailer arguing the toss over a quick exchange..

....and then always copy new cd's before taking them into the car!!
