Yes but this is from distant memory when HDCD was a hot and new thing: 1) The HDCD discs were Reference Recordings which, in general, are excellent to begin with. 2) Playing them on the HDCD-compatible player, there was a slight bit of better detail in the HF and the impression of it in the mids. Dynamics were similar to the CD version. 3) Playing the HDCD on a non-HDCD player was no better and, at times, not quite as nice as the CD version. Kal |

Get ye to: http://hdcd.com/music_catalog/welcome.asp That catalogue is no where near a full list. I have bought quite a few HDCD lately and none are on the list. There seems to be lost of HDCD in the country and folk Americana music genres. BTW how do you like the Copland, I'm looking to upgrade and that is on my shortlist? whiteflyer --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). The Copland is a very well built machine. I haven't really played it enough to say how good it is. it's miles better than my Cambridge audio CD640 Azure, but then it ought to be! I'm getting a Shanling also to compare. In article , Whiteflyer writes Get ye to: http://hdcd.com/music_catalog/welcome.asp That catalogue is no where near a full list. What's wrong with it? Or are we talking about a huge price difference/sound quality difference? |

One costs £250, the other £1200...
The Cambridge sounds great for the money, you have to spend a shed load more to improve on it. It also comes with the finest remote you will ever find. The 640 amp has a motorised volume knob that turns itself down if you overdrive the amp! In article , Forester writes In article , Richard Markham wrote: The Copland is a very well built machine.
