Marantz CD67 MKII SE Problem
Hi,
I have a problem with my Marantz CD67 MKII SE cd player. When initially turned on the cd player has trouble finding CD tracks, sometimes coming up with No Disc. If a CD plays in the player, it does so, but is completely drowned out by a crackling noise. However, if you leave the player on for an hour or so, it seems to 'warm up' and is able to play the CDs almost as normal (there is still a bit of crackling, but it usually not noticeable) Anyone got any ideas what the problem is. Is it DIY repairable and if so what do I need to do/replace. If its not diyable, how much should I expect to have to pay to have it repaired. Kind regards Mark |

This is usually diagnosed as a failing laser that needs replacement. It can
sometimes just be that the transport mechanism has dried out and disassembly, oiling with a light oil (sewing machine) and putting back together can fix the problem. For Transport details see http://members.lycos.co.uk/hanalogue/ This should let you know what transport is in your player and how to buy a new one. Do not attempt if you have no DIY/electronics skills but not a tough job Regards Richard "Mark Trueman" wrote in message ... Hi, I have a problem with my Marantz CD67 MKII SE cd player. Kind regards Mark My CD67 has this problem, but only in the winter. I leave it continuously powered-up in the winter months and this eliminates the problem. I'm assuming it's a laser problem, and it's about to die but it keeps soldiering on. -- Chris Morriss |

I think its the spindle motor cos sometimes the cd doesnt even spin up. I thook the transport out (dead easy with this unit thankfully) and cleaned as much as i could but to no avail. Is it worth just replacing like for like (CDM 12.1) or is there a better alternative. Kind regards Mark |

Hi.....
It might not be the laser, I have seen this before if it's the model I'm thinking of, I had problems with the actual DAC, TDA1541, unless I'm thinking about another model. It could still of course be the laser, the Philips 12.1 is fairly common laser assembly, if you cant get one, let me know. Brian (horse.trader(at)ntlworld.com Chris Morriss wrote in message ... Given that it's Philips based, I'd say there's a good chance of some dry joints. -- *The e-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

I think that you must replace with a CDM 12 but if Phillips made better
quality units you could get any of the versions. I have no idea which if any are better. Regards Richard "Mark Trueman" wrote in message ... "Richard Wall" wrote in message ...
