wireless audio links
I'd like to connect the audio output from my PC through my hifi
amplifier. This would either be a ~10m cable run or some wireless solution. While I do have some music on the computer, the main reason is listening to the radio, especially the BBC's excellent archive of stuff I missed, so 'reasonable' quality rather that hifi would be required. How long can I reasonably run the line level signal from the PC? Can/Should I get a wee booster amp for this and, if so, any suggestions? I've looked at wireless solutions, but most are biased towards MP3 playback and interface directly to the audio files on the PC, so I'm not usre if this would work with streamers such as RealPlayer. Also, I don't really need the remote control or track listing stuff. Is there anything that will simply transmit the audio output from box A connected to my PC to box B connected to my amp? Suplementary question: I'd like an extra set of speakers in the kitchen. I listen more in there anyway and logically that's where the whole system should live, but that's not going to happen soon. So, I'm probably going to run cable but noticed a set of wireless speakers on maplin while looking for solutions to the first question: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Products/Mod...o=33457&M R=N Anyone tried these? I can't imagine the sound quality is up to much, but just how bad is it. They only have to compete with whatever cheap speakers and cablr (15m) that I'd otherwise use. Good for the shed maybe? Thanks for the help. |

How about an FM transmitter? You can find those in most electronics stores. Another question.. is there a consumer solution for transmitting and receiving digital PCM? If not why not!! Try plugging a SPDIF signal down the video input of a video sender, and the other end to your DAC works quite well.... -- Tony Sayer |

Do these boxes transmit in RAW PCM or compressed?? -- S i g n a l @ l i n e o n e . n e t Raw PCM at SPDIF levels which is remarkably similar to Video about 1 volt P to P and at 75 ohms and around 3 MHz ish. I've managed to get one over three miles with suitable aerials:-)) -- Tony Sayer |
