Tape deck belts

Hi there.

No idea if anyone can help here, but I've just dug up my old (but decent
sounding) tape deck so I can transcribe some tapes, only to find that
its suffering from 'belt rot'. all the belts (4 or 5 of them) are shot
to hell - they stretch about 5 cm and slowly sag back.

I'd like to fix this deck, partly because its half decent and partly
because I've known it all my life.

Its an AIWA L30 - a slim grey metallic thing.

Ideally I'd like a set of 'new' belts rather than a replacement set
thats close on 30 years old itself...

Any ideas?

If the belts have been sealed against air and kept out of the light, they
should be ok.

I was under the impression that they degraded internally, but I can go
with that if you say so. Any idea where I can get a set?

Some googling turned up this site

Might be worth a look.

I recently fitted a NOS Sony one to a reel to reel and that was fine.

Have you checked CPC?
