Keith G's new amp
I went round to Keith's yesterday and heard the ch*nky amp for myself
and in summary I *really* liked it. I'm not hugely experienced at auditioning equipment and don't really know the lingo to describe what I hear but I'll have a go. It was clear (open?), controlled (clean?), the bass was very good considering the speakers and it was far louder than I could ever need at home. But what was most important to me was that I liked it and it made me smile to hear some of my CDs through it. Yes I would rather have something like his WAD amp if I had a choice but by (hopefully!) getting one of these Dynovox amps I don't feel dissapointed or like I'm just making do. Phil |

Phil That's what its all about - you don't have to be an 'expert' to listen to music whatever some folks say. You saying 'it made me smile to hear some of my CDs through it' was enough, you really enjoyed the music Period. I listening to one 'purists' system last year and I thought it didn't sound right - the reason I was told was due to copper speaker cables tarnish - and he didn't live by the sea either) Geeez. How else can you play Björk remixes?? :-) But what was most important to me was that I liked it and it made me smile to hear some of my CDs through it. Glad you enjoyed it (I did and I know SN did too) - I didn't think we'd played anything much on the WAD amp??? If you are referring to the 'extra splashy rain' on the Chris Rea that was the Triode amp??? You might be interested to know that the chinky amp's on the B&Ws (aka the 'Woolly Mammoths') now and it's quite a lot better - must be, I'm listening to CDs!!! ;-) |

Mike, I go to *some* effort and expense to get a sound I like then, **** it, it's the music. Yesterday and today I will have had music on *all day long* - I often do and I can't get enough of it!!! Does that say anything??? (Apart from 'get a life'....???? ;-) |

Music's essential escape, way to relax When I was in the biz there were many more doctors in my customer list than any other profession. Even a half hour of good listening rejuvenates the mind & spirit without even resorting to the single malt.... |

Good example: "Headphones" from "Post". FORGET IT at other than low volumes, with my amp. That is not good. :-( Martin -- M.A.Poyser Tel.: 07967 110890 Manchester, U.K. http://www.fleetie.demon.co.uk |

They need a 'firmer hand' I think. The Björk was very crisp and stingy on the Wharfies at the cost of the best in bass thump. Now having said that, I put the little bugger on a pair of DM2As today and they've guzzled the power up but do sound very nice - all nice and fluffy, just the way Pinky likes it!! :-) |
