Speaker recommendations?
Due to accidental cat-related damage, it's time for me to invest in some new
speakers but, to be honest, I haven't got much of a clue about what's good and not so good. I thought it might give everyone a break from the ongoing "vinyl 'n' valves" and "Stewart is/isn't an engineer" arguments to give me a few suggestions... I'm currently running a pair of 20+ year old Kef Carltons off a Cyrus 2 amp and, whilst I listen to everything from medieval plainsong through to hardcore industrial techno, most of my serious core listening is to 1970's rock. I've always preferred a big, floorstanding speaker as, being a drummer and guitarist, I still have a thing about moving large volumes of air and feeling that 'slam'. Source material is almost exclusively 320kbps MP3s. Budget isn't really an issue although I'd need serious persuading to spend over £1000. My main listening room is a Georgian room about 20x30 feet with 14 foot ceilings - carpeted and with a couple of sofas So... any ideas? TIA, Stimpy |
