Selling Linn LP12 Cirkus/Pink Linnk/Cetech - Advice Please
It's a while since I've been here but I recognize a few names either
from the past or from other places; so first I'll say hi again. I have enjoyed my Linn LP12 for a few years and in the process have done some very effective upgrades. First, the Cirkus mod. Next, it has the Pink Linnk PSU (AC using the standard motor) and also a new top plate which moves the motor to the front. Most significantly, it has a Cetech subchassis and I found that this makes a very substantial improvement (in conjunction with bolting up the armboard). I had a Moerch DP-6 arm and Lyra Evolve cartridge on there but these have been moved to my new tt. The complete package was really good! Considerably better than a full spec LP12/Lingo/Ekos/Arkive. Every time I put another non Linn mod on it, it got a lot better, thank God :-); but as it's now a long way from standard it might be harder to sell in spite of its high sound quality. Any idea how much it's worth as it is, without arm? Is it a good idea to buy a cheapish arm in order to be able to demo the deck, and offer a complete package to the buyer? I can't run to an Ittok for this. I guess I can replace the Moerch arm for demo purposes but of course it's a fair bit of effort; I'd do so for a serious enquiry. Or do I have to do something silly like returning it to base spec and selling the PSU and Cetech chassis on their own? I say silly as it'd be the biggest Linn downgrade in history .... Or do I just stick it on Ebay and hope for the best .... |

So I suggest that for the time being you leave your Moerch arm on it so that you can give 'credible' demos. There will be plenty of time to transfer over to your 'real' TT once a sale has been agreed. As for price: you could calculate the cost of buying the various components new, and use a suitable percentage of that as the basis for setting an Ebay starting price, and just see what happens. |
