Size DOES matter!
I'm currently running a venerable but much loved Cyrus 2 amp and
equally ancient KEF Carlton 3 speakers. However the time has come to replace my knackered Marantz CD player and I'm looking for inspiration. I've got around £500 in the budget BUT (and this is a big but) for boring architectural reasons, the CD player has to fit into a space 10 inches deep (i.e. front to back) Anyone got any suggestions? Length and Height can be as large as needed but front to back no more than 10 inches... TIA |

Price £100-150 on Ebay. I think one is on there now. A new minisystem transport could be used to drive it or a second hand Meridian transport but these do not come up so often. Alan |

Forgive my ignorance here but does this connect between the 'line out' on the CD player and the CD-in on the amp? Would I need a mini CD player with any specific 'unusual' outputs? I guess I could look at one of those little Denon 'lifestyle' CD players together with such a DAC |

"Alan Murphy" wrote in message ... The CD player used as transport must have a digital output. These are quite common. This can be either an electrical or optical interconnect. Preferably an optical according to the Meridian manual as this neither generates, nor is susceptible to any interference. I use a 203 dac (Ebay £103) optically conected to a Technics SL-PG490 CD player (Richer £65) and this is far superior to my Marantz CD6000 OSE/LE (Richer £200). Thanks... So all I need to do now is find a decent CD player less than 10 inches deep with a digital or optical output :-) |
