http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWA:IT Its an Ebay advert for a pair of Leak 3090 speakers. I thought that my Tannoy Yorks were a bit on the big side but these are an inch shy of 4ft tall! I wonder what they sound like? Anyone any idea? Best to all the New Year! David |

David The 3090 was an update on the Leak 2075. On the 2075s the separate bass TL uses a 15" foil/foam/foil sandwich driver. I know the old 2075s, and they benefit from having the old reversible electrolytics in the crossovers replaced by film caps (you'll need lots of paralleled 10uf ones for the bass section!). -- Chris Morriss |

I used to work in an independant Hifi shop and we once ordered some B stock Pioneer speakers as they were cheap and we were always getting kids wanting cheap speakers. They turned up and were about 5' tall with two 15" bass units, an 8" mid and dome tweeters all in a real wood veneer. They needed a meaty amp to drive them but boy! could they shake the windows or what! At first we thought what a bargain but it took ages to find a customer who had room for them. -- Entwisi Honda XL1000V Varadero 'The Big V' FBOTY#2003 PIT#3(KoTL) |

So, if you like your music to sound ****e, but very loud, NIRVANA!! :-) Not in any way comparable to Yorks, in case you were wondering. -- Stewart Pinkerton | Music is Art - Audio is Engineering |

In the next few years as retirement beckons (we are already virtually empty nesters) I reckon that we will have to go for a smaller more modern house and the Yorks might have to go then for that reason alone. Keep looking around, you might find an older property with few rooms, but big 'uns! Barn conversions are usually good that way. -- Stewart Pinkerton | Music is Art - Audio is Engineering |

I know the sound of the 2075s and with a cross-over update they sound very good; better than a TLS80 IMO. (although when I used to use TLS50s, I always preferred those to the larger TLS80.) They don't go that loud though, compared with a similar size box containing a 15" Tannoy Monitor Gold for example. -- Chris Morriss |
