Music ??

There is a lot of discussion here about equipment, amplifier distortion ,
valves v solid state, the sound of cables and capacitors etc..........and a
lot of good tech advice and opinion .BUT what about the music ?
I thought I would ask as question that might elicit some interesting
opinions that might tell us a little more about group members.
Brace yourself its a music question.....so who knows, it might puzzle a few
contributors:)

Who is/was the most influential female recording artist of the late 20th
century?

Sits back and braces himself !!! Of course there is no RIGHT answer but
opinions may be interesting.

We won't know the answer to that for another fifty years. Perhaps for
the early 20th Century?

Eh? the 20th century lasted from 1901 to 2000 according to the Gregorian
Calendar 1900 - 1999 if you want the Common Era calendar.. Of course if you
are on another planet that doesn't apply ;-)

In answer to the question Billie Holiday as far as I'm concerned

I'm saying that it is far too early too gauge influence from singers
as recent as the late 20th century.

Who has Billie Holiday influenced, by the way? The question isn't
about who was great.

Many modern jazz singers have been influenced by Lady Day (BH)

Pretty narrow genre. I'm sure there must be plenty of singers with a
much wider and more pervasive influence.
