DAB sounds worse than FM February 4th 05 02:34 PM

Could anybody recommend any (mains-powered) PC speakers? I plan to use
them with an MP3 player in my kitchen instead of a radio.

TIA.

I bought some Altec Lansing Series 100, for £24 from Dabs.

I'm well pleased.

Currently listening to www.radioveronica.nl sounding good @ 96Kb/s
Unfortunately playing Phil Collins now, but next tune will be better.

Right, thanks. Could you tell me what their output power is?

Crikey. Your life's work appears to be complaining about the quality of
DAB, but you are perfectly happy to have crap like this?

I have a Rio Karma hooked up to Aego 2 speakers, and the quality is
excellent. Generally not the case though, I agree.

If the OP is interested, these are the speakers:

http://www.avreview.co.uk/news/artic...SP=&v=3&UAN=90

if you try, you can get them at about a tenner cheaper.

Well encoded 320kbps MP3's are a *lot* better than DAB and are all but
indistinguishable from the original CD

But the average set of PC speakers?

They're built down to a price. Same as DAB.

Most I know who have a DAB portable for kitchen use are more than happy
with it. Horses for courses.
