I found the switch where you said - pushed it over - and it worked!

My eyes are not what they were and I simply did not see that small
black-on-black slide switch.

Life has now returned to normal! Thank you from the bottom of my
stiff back which will shortly be exercised!!

Apologies if this is not the right group but I am going mad – if
anyone can save my sanity please reply!

I have the above Sony Walkman but no manual. The CD player must have
been accidentally banged in my sports bag as it is now on "Hold",
apparently a way of locking it down to prevent battery use if it is
inadvertently switched on. I suspect this may already have happened
in the bag as the batteries were exhausted suddenly and very early. I
have recharged the batteries but when switched on it came up on
"Hold".

How can I "un-hold" it?
