I'm not really surprised if only bubble wrap was used. Anything sharp
like
a corner will puncture it. Those need to be protected by polystyrene,
etc.
Best way would have been bubble wrap the deck then put in a larger box
with those polystyrene balls.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised with parcelforce - I had a similar mishap
with similar packing (4 inch bubble wrap all round). With my parcel two
things happened:

OK, you know me - here's the pix!

The deck was *swathed* in bubble wrap - see this pic, note that the bubble
wrap *fills* the empty box:

1. The parcel had been compressed to the extent that the lid shattered
around the hinges;
2. A corner of the deck had folded - similar to Keith's example.

I couldn't have done that damage by standing on the parcel - a hefty jump
might have sealed it.

What happens is they throw the parcels into wheeled cages with about 6
foot high sides and everything goes over the top for speed, rather than
open the fronts up - I have watched them do it.

I know I have posted this before - I was let into a Parsehole Force depot
one evening to collect a parcel onetime. I saw what looked like it might
have been a wrapped anvil hoisted over the side of a cage (with great
effort) and watched it drop onto the stuff already in the cage. I also saw
a bloke throw a brand new kid's bike (with manufacturer's cardboard
wrapped over the frame down to the pedals only) from the back of a lorry
straight down onto a concrete floor!

Having said this I've just had 2 records delivered by the PO in perfect
condition - and they were in a plain envelope!

Yes, it *can* happen, so why *doesn't* it happen all the time???

Take a look at the recent pile of boxes received here in the last few days
(yes, I'm a bit of a slut I know, but there's half a kilometre of
schlepping to take this lot down to the garage - I'll get round to it!!):

On top is the Garrard box via Parcel Post - (OK, pounded to phuq over the
years) but with a heavily dished top (??), tons of bubble wrap (but no
'Fragile' stickers), delivered by a bloke who (pleasant enough) was quite
scruffily dressed and said 'it's an 'eavy one, mate'....???

Next is the immaculate Liteon box which was *inside* the equally
immaculate Amazon box - those boys *really* know how to do it!

At the bottom is the Loths box delivered by Amtrak - only polystyrene
'corners' on the speakers and yet they still managed to get here totally
unscathed!

Kinda says it all really....

Now, Live 8 - is it me or is it ****e....???

****e, band limited poorly mixed ****e at that..

Mixed bag - some bits have sounded really good. I suppose if I walked
down the road I could listen to the real thing, but I can't be
bothered. I suspect I am now moving into the "who's that?" phase of
proceedings.

If Pink Floyd are even a tenth as good as they were last time I saw
them live, then they will certainly be worth waiting for. Just depends
on whether they survive the clash of egos with Waters rejoining.

Just no excuse, shambles really.

Just turned round to see a similar stack ;-). I went to a TNT depot
recently to pick something up - seemed very professional.

Now, Live 8 - is it me or is it ****e....???

I think it's quite good - tight performances, happy crowds. Just hope
the penny drops somewhere in Edinburgh over the next few days ...

Something?

Oooh, *secrets* now, is it......?? :-)

(Hardest thing in the world to shift, empty cardboard boxes - takes *weeks*
sometimes!! :-)

I'm trying to like it - Annie Lennox lifted the tone no end just now and
then *bang* it's that ****-faced **** Jonnoffon Woss in a yellow suit
again!!

Maybe later on....??

LOL! I am vaguely embarrassed at the quantity of consumer durables that
pass my door, but heartened by the the fact that I, personally, prop up
nation state economies :-)

Absolutely! They actually double as pretty effective occasional tables,
until they eventually migrate north. And that horror - the contenets of
the loft - is about to become live as the move gets closer. I had a peak
the other day. Formidable box array.

Apparently Ross interviewed James Brown the other day, curious about his
'prostrate' cancer. As if there aren't enough Rs in the world :-)

Maybe later on....??

Annie Lennox was superb, as were Floyd (some telling Gilmour-Mason to
Waters dynamics there), Who, Scissor Sisters and a few goodies elswhere
- Kaiser Chiefs. I didn't get the rap thing in Philadelphia, and
McCartney's affable duffer went on for too long.

Yes, I'm not sure I want/need to see a *new* Pink Floyd, but that
performance was stunning - timewarped straight from the past and as good as
ever!

(And *twice* recorded here...!! :-)

I didn't really watch anything other than the aforementioned AL and PF but
'stayed with' McCartney until the 'Hey Jude' bit started to get a bit
'endless' - I think he did very well for an auld jiffer (5 years old than
me) but that his turn was a bit of an irrelevance after the stunning
Floyd....
