Headphones and Ear Defenders

Hi Folks

I work in a noisy industrial environment which requires some sort of
ear protection. Could anyone advise on wireless headphones that give
good hearing protection and also allow listening to CDs radio etc?

I believe I would require "closed, circumaural wireless stereo RF"
such as Sennheiser RS 140 or Sony MDR-RF850RK.

Any comments?

TIA Rob

None of them will give proper ear protection. Either wear earplugs and wear
normal headphones over the top (turn them up to suit) or get some custom
in-ear monitors made.

I do too. I use Sony bud type ear pieces taped in position with a piece of
masking tape with my Bilsom ear defenders over the top of them. Very
satisfactory - until someone wants to talk to me!

Unless those headphones provide industrial noise protection, your employer
might object to your wearing them instead of ear defenders... so don't spend
too much money on them!

Of course if you have a wireless system, you could also use it for talking
to each other,. so maybe your employer could be persuaded to pay for it.
There's a technique called "ducking" used by DJs which cuts the music level
when there's a signal on the voice channel.

It's not cheap ... I'd think you'd be looking at £500 or so per user for a
two-way wireless system (microphone and custom-mold in-ear phones.).
