Nice. Gay maybe, but nice. I've always fallen at the Cut Hole With Jigsaw
hurdle myself. Can't see them shaking floorboards with Tommy Bolin though,
so not for me. 93mm. Wasn't an old penny bigger than that?

Almost! :-)

Never mind the Pinkies - you can feel the (some) bass through the floor from
even the blue ones:

The trick is not to need your 'floorboards shaken' all the time - there's a
lot of music it don't do no good for!! (On my little 4 watter, the Pinkies
would be too loud for most at the halfway mark in my room in any case!) As I
said a while back, the sparks (who will be back here again later on) guessed
the amp to be '100 watts' and '200 watts' when I ran it up to max (3/4
stick) for them, on a 7 inch single!!

I have been wondering if that's the "right" general approach these days
to have smaller main speakers and a subwoofer (or two) rather than
trying to get all of the audio spectrum from one pair of bigger boxes.

A colleague of mine is seriously considering a pair of Lowthers
powered by his valve amp, with a pair of subwoofers and SS
amp to look after the low end. This too might prove to be a
very good solution. I bet its only a matter of time before our
Keith gets round to trying that too:-)

OK. Next step. Put your SS powered subbie (or two)
into a system with a pair of Lowthers driven by your
SET.

You clearly have the carpentry skills, so I am wagering
its only a matter of time:-)

Now that*will* be a thread:-)
