Default DAB Radio & digital audio out

Are DAB radio tuners available with digital audio out? And what would
be the comparison in sound quality between say a DAB tuner and a radio
station via a freeview TV box?

Reason for asking is that I want to know how to get the best quality
radio via a digital input "preamp".

Cheers.

My Arcam Alpha 10 has a digital out. Freeview is vastly superior in
quality, though. It runs at a much higher bit rate.

I wouldn't have thought you would improve quality by digital transfer,
though - the quality bottleneck is not in the converter, but the
transmission.

Thanks Don, I think I heard that freeview was better quality that DAB,
so you've just confirmed that and in so doing also confirmed that I
don't need another source component.

The reason for needing digital out is that I don't have an analogue
input facility, sources components need to plug into my Wadia 861,
which does the pre-amp and DAC, then into mono blocks and speakers.

Well, good luck finding a Freeview box with digital out.

My Sony has for audio. One of those strange combined mini jack thingies.

Would that be the VTX-D800U per chance? This is the model I am
considering getting.

The real challenge has been finding a good freeview box with digital
audio out and TUTV capability, but think I'll settle on the above Sony
model which has had good reviews. My existing box is an old Pioneer ON
Digital unit with smatcard slot which the kiddies can use in their own
room if they want TUTV in the future.

My Nokia 221T has an SPDIF output. I had assumed that many/most DTTV RXs
had a digital output for sound.

Slainte,
