Actually, this challenge has already been offered as a listening
comparison, and was at first accepted by RATA's marketing manager.
When Russ Andrews heard about it, he immediately fired a rocket up the
guy's arse and ran at top speed in the opposite direction.
There is absolutely no way that Russ will *ever* allow a proper
comparison to be made, since that would inevitably show his extremely
expensive Kimber cables to be no better than cheap 'freebies'.
It's all snake oil, smoke and mirrors, and Russ is well aware of this.
I have personally offered £1,000 to anyone who coan demonstrate the
audible supriority of 'audiophile' cables. That offer has been on the
table for more than six years, and despite many loudmouthed claims
from the 'subjectivists', no one has even *tried* to claim the prize.

*The* conditions are that signals are level-matched at the speaker
terminals at 1kHz and 10kHz +/- 0.1dB, and you have to get better than
15 out of 20 double-blind trials correct.

How many attempts is one allowed? I'm probably wrong, but I reckon
there's a 1:50 chance of getting the cash by chance...?

I would do it. My conditions would be that I was given a few hours to get to
know the test system, and also have hear each of the cables in the test
system before the test starts. After that, your conditions sound good. Is
that fair?

It would be good if you could co-ordinate with Ben Goldacre to add your
cash prize to his offer. It would add more weight to the article and
"MAYBE" encourage someone to take the challenge.
The Squirming that is going on, on the WIGWAM thread is amazing. But I
suppose we couldnt expect anything else!
The cable vendors on the Wigwam site appear to be rather angry at the
cheek of the man to actually doubt there engineering prowess :-)

Actually, the only noticeable thing about the Wigwam thread is how
dumb is Frank Marshall aka Effem. The man has absolutely no clue about
how electrical equipment works, and he is using classic 'audiophile
salon' bull**** terms. 'Tighter bass' my arse!
The guy is just another typical hi-fi sales droid, conning customers
out of their hard-earned, when what he *should* be doing is selling
them better speakers. My offer is an open one, if Ben Goldacre sets up
a properly controlled DBT, I'll be happy to put my cash behind it.
I note that FM, when challenged, runs and hides behind the 'thousands'
that such a test would cost. What utter bull****! He's perfectly free
to do the test in his own salon with his own 'reference' system, the
only requirement is that a third party changes the power cables, and
that neither Marshall nor the test proctor knows which cable is
connected at any one time. This can easily be arranged, and I for one
would be happy to travel at my own expense.
Let's see if he can really hear this 'tighter bass' etc when he
doesn't *know* which cable is connected!

Make sure you take a photographer, a reporter, and several independent
witnesses, and let us know where we can read about the results.
